Happy Returns? Bartik, Allison To Play For Thunder Against Columbus

April 13, 2007 - World Indoor Football League 2 (WIFL 2)
Daytona Beach Thunder News Release

COLUMBUS, Ga. - It's not exactly MacArthur to the Phillipines or David Lee Roth to Van Halen, but the return of Bo Bartik and Nick Allison to the Daytona Beach Thunder line-up could be huge when the World Indoor Football League team meets the Columbus Lions Saturday at AFLAC Field at Columbus Civic Center.

Bartik, one of the most seasoned quarterbacks in indoor football, will start Saturday after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury. Head Coach Leon Bright says Bartik is "95 percent healthy."

"The leadership is what I'm looking for,'' Bright said, when asked why start Bartik over Woodley. "With his experience, we're a different team."

It'll be Bartik's first game with Barry Wagner, and he'll also two other options to throw to in addition to Wags and Cory McKinney.

Former Spruce Creek star Steve Kennedy will see his first action of the season, and Nick Allison will play on both sides of the ball in his 2007 Thunder debut. Allison's known for his defensive prowless, but he also had three cacthes for touchdowns in spot offensive appearances during 2006.

"Nick's a playmaker," Bright said.

The Thunder (1-4) is winless on the road this season while league-lead Columbus (4-1) is undefeated at home. Throw in the teams being on opposites of 39-points blowouts last week doesn't look good on paper.

"The game's not played on paper," Bright said. "If we play ball the way we're capable of, we'll be okay."

Game time is 7 p.m. Live scoring updates and audiocasts can be found on www.dbthunderfootball.com, www.columbuslions.net and www.wifl.us
