New York Liberty News Release
NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Players' Tribune (TPT) announced today a first-of-its-kind all-access multi media package, "We Are," that will debut with an immersive profile of the New York Liberty as they close in on the WNBA Playoffs. The package will offer an exclusive inside look at one of the WNBA's top teams and premier franchises, focusing on the players, coaches, and team staff, as they battle for playoff position. Through a combination of a documentary video series, first-person narratives, photo diaries and travelogues, "We Are: New York Liberty" will provide a voice to each Liberty player as they journey together throughout the rest of the regular season and the playoffs.
TPT has spent weeks chronicling what goes into creating a championship-contending team under the New York spotlight. With complete, embedded access-game days, practice, life on the road, time on the court and off-fans will be immersed into the personal relationships among teammates, coaches, and staff. "We Are: New York Liberty" will highlight the dynamics of women's professional sports, from on-the-court-strategy to each player's own unique journey.
"We are excited to work with the Liberty to give fans an inside look into the game they love," says Jaymee Messler, president of The Players' Tribune. "The Liberty truly encompass what the WNBA is about- talent, diversity, drive - and we wanted to give these women and the unique staff behind them a platform to share their stories and start conversations. Highlighting the achievements of female athletes is a major priority for The Players' Tribune, and we are grateful to the Liberty organization for opening their doors and giving us unprecedented access into their team."
"Working with The Players' Tribune is a tremendous opportunity for the New York Liberty and I am thrilled to be a part of this experience," says Isiah Thomas, president of Liberty. "It is important for people outside of our organization to see what an amazing group of women we have on this team -
get to know them, hear their stories, and share in their experiences. This media package offers a chance to see their unique journey as athletes, role models and community ambassadors, something female athletes are too infrequently provided the platform to share. Through this collaboration, we are able to raise the profile of the Liberty franchise and professional women's basketball."
The package debuts on The Players' Tribune today with photo diaries featuring road trips, game action and team outings, as well as a video trailer for the mini docu-series entitled "1440"; the first episode will premiere later this week. Subsequent content will roll out throughout the remainder of the season.
