"The Diesel" Returns to the Quad Cities

Moline, IL-The Quad City Mallards today announced that defenseman Steve MacIntyre has returned to the team. The 6-foot-6, 265-pound rearguard began the season with the Mallards before returning home for personal reasons on October 24th.

The Brock, Saskatchewan native known as "The Diesel" appeared in the first three Mallards games of the 2006-07 season. In his Mallards debut, MacIntyre recorded 17 penalty minutes vs. Muskegon on October 14th. During the contest, he passed the 1,300 penalty minute mark for his pro career. He recorded seven penalty minutes in each of the next two Mallards games before leaving the team to attend to personal matters.

MacIntyre spent the majority of the last three seasons with the ECHL's Charlotte Checkers. The big rearguard holds the Charlotte franchise record for penalty minutes with 669 and led the team in penalty minutes for three consecutive seasons (2003-04 through 2005-06). He played 61 games last year with the Checkers and recorded five points on three goals and two assists with 238 penalty minutes.

MacIntyre spent two stints in the American Hockey League with the Hartford Wolf Pack. In 2004-05, MacIntyre played 27 games in Hartford and recorded two points (a goal and an assist) with 207 penalty minutes. During the 2003-04 season, he appeared in three games for the Wolf Pack and was held scoreless while recording no penalty minutes.

Prior to joining the Checkers, MacIntyre played two seasons in the United Hockey League with the Muskegon Fury. In 2002-03, he led the Fury with 279 penalty minutes in 54 games. He captured a Colonial Cup Championship as a rookie with the 2001-02 Muskegon Fury.

During his career, MacIntyre has played 282 professional games and has 26 points (10 goals and 16 assists) with 1,330 penalty minutes. He has appeared in 38 playoff contests and has seven post-season points (all assists) and 107 playoff penalty minutes.

The Mallards host Kalamazoo tonight at 7:00 p.m. It's Elvis Night as the first 500 fans will receive Elvis style sunglasses. Quad City wraps up their longest home stand of the year on Friday night vs. Bloomington.
