Austin Ice Bats News Release

(Austin, TX) - Today the Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League announce that they've signed Darryl McArthur and Ashlee Langdone for the upcoming 2007-2008 season. For McArthur, this will be his third campaign as a member of the Ice Bats. McArthur was on the ice for Austin from 2000-2004, and once again in 2005-2006. McArthur's best season as an Ice Bat came in 2002-2003 when he scored 14 goals and had 24 assists. "Darryl is a steady defenseman who can play in every situation and is a great leader," said Ice Bats head coach, Brent Hughes. McArthur added, "I'm happy to be back. I've had success with Brent in the past and I‘m looking forward to having some more. Austin's a great city, I've played here before. It's good for my family. We'll eventually call Austin home someday."

Ashlee Langdone will bring a physical presence to the ice for Austin this year. Langdone spent the last two years playing in Canada, but before that he was in the ECHL with Texas and Bakersfield. During his one season in Texas, Langdone compiled 304 penalty minutes in 65 games. According to Coach Hughes, "He's basically a bruiser who shows up every night to play. He finishes his body checks and he skates well." Langdone expressed, "I'm coming to Austin to fore check, back check, hip check and body check. This is going to be the best year ever for Ice Bats hockey and if you don't want to win the championship, don't sign here."

The Ice Bats are getting ready to begin their 12th season in Austin. The 2007-2008 campaign begins in October, but season ticket packages are already available. Call (512) 927-PUCK (7825) for more information.
