Bucks Sign Versatile Courchene

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League have announced the signing of forward Corey Courchene from the Manitoba Junior Hockey League for the 2007-08 season.

Courchene played for three teams last season, for the Dauphin Kings in the WJHL, and in the WHL for the Brandon Wheat Kings, and the Spokane Chiefs.

Last season Courchene, from Ft. Alexander, Manitoba, played in 42 games, with 18 goals, 24 assists, for 42 points. "Corey is very talented and skilled, and can play all three forward positions", said Bucks head coach Terry Ruskowski said, "We are looking forward to seeing him perform for us."

Courchene spent his first three junior seasons on the Wheat Kings roster, playing in 174 games, scoring 18 goals, 27 assists, for 45 points. In 24 playoff games for the Wheat Kings Courchene scored one goal, with five assists, for six points.

Courchene becomes the third WJHL player signed by the Bucks, joining Matt Summers and Tyler Harder on the Bucks 2007-08 roster.

The Bucks, who open training camp October 8th, are preparing for their sixth season of play in the CHL and are looking for their third Presidents Cup Championship.
