LAREDO, Texas – The Laredo Bucks went 4-0-0 last week and improved to a CHL best 30-5-2 with 62 points. The Bucks beat Austin 7-3 last Wednesday night at the LEC. On Friday night Laredo traveled to Rio Grande Valley and squashed the Killer Bees 6-1. Saturday the Bucks returned home and defeated the Corpus Christi Rayz 5-1. Sunday the Bucks completed the weekend sweep with a 6-3 win over Bossier – Shreveport. Laredo goes on the road this Friday to Corpus Christi. SPECIAL EVENTS

· This Saturday night is 70's night at the LEC as the Bucks host the Odessa Jackalopes. Take a trip back in time as music from the 70's will be played. Fans are encouraged to dress up in 70's garb. Also all Military personnel can receive a two dollar discount on up to four tickets. Military identification is required and the offer is redeemable only at the LEC Box Office. The box office is open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 10 a.m. on game days.

NEXT UP

· The Bucks travel to Corpus Christi on Friday. Laredo returns home to host the Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday night at the LEC at 7:30 p.m.

BUCKS VS. UPCOMING OPPONENTS

CORPUS CHRISTI RAYZ · The Bucks are 7-2-0 against the Rayz. Laredo is 2-2 in Corpus Christi and 5-0 at home. The Rayz have never won a game at the LEC. The last meeting between the teams came on Saturday, 01/10, at the LEC as the Bucks won 5-1. The Bucks are 14-54 (25.9 %) on the man advantage against the Rayz, while Corpus Christi is 6-68 (8.8 %).

ODESSA JACKALOPES · The Bucks are 2-0-0 against the Jackalopes. The last meeting took place on 12/04 in Odessa as the Bucks rallied for a 3-2 win. Laredo is 0-4 (0.0 %) on the power play while the Jackalopes are 1-11 (9.1 %). Last year the Bucks were 3-1-1 against Odessa in the regular season. The Bucks beat the Jackalopes 3-2 in the first round of the playoffs.

THE ‘THREE AMIGOS' PUT ON A SHOW

· The newly named ‘Three Amigo' line of Jeff Bes, Brent Cullaton and Chris Grenville has been on fire lately. In four games this past week they combined for 12 goals. The trio has combined for 68 goals this year with the total representing 43.9 % of the CHL leading 155 goals scored this year by Laredo.

CHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

· The CHL announced on Monday that Laredo forward Chris Grenville has been selected the CHL Player of the Week. Grenville had five goals and five assists in four games. He has scored a goal in six straight games, the longest current streak in the CHL, and in ten of the last 11 games. He is tied for fourth in the CHL with 23 goals.

SUSPENDED

· Bucks defenseman Steve Weidlich was suspended five games by the CHL. He began serving his suspension on 01/03 and will return this Friday against Corpus Christi. Bucks forward Mike Amodeo has been suspended by the CHL for three games. Amodeo began serving it on 01/10 and will be eligible to return this Saturday against Odessa.

· The Bucks have recorded at least a point in 21 of last 23 games.

· The Bucks have the third most wins in the league when trailing after two periods of play with three come from behind victories. Bossier-Shreveport and Memphis lead the CHL with four wins when behind after two periods of play.

RED HOT BUCK

· Bucks forward Brent Cullaton has recorded points in 12 straight games and in 24 of the last 25. He is tied for the longest current point streak in the CHL with teammate Jeff Bes. The longest point streak this year in the league was by former Bucks forward Dave Gilmore, now with Indianapolis, at 14 straight games.

RED LIGHT FLASHING

· The Bucks have scored 34 goals in the last six games (5.67 per) and gone 6-0-0.

· 01/11/03 – SUNDAY – The Laredo Bucks beat the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 6-3 in front of 5,804 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Forward Patrik Nilson had a pair of goals and David Guerrera stopped 29 of 32 shots to lead the Bucks to their sixth straight win. The Bucks tied a franchise record with their 12th straight win on home ice. Laredo is 30-5-2 with a CHL and Southeast division leading 62 points. Guerrera improved to 15-3-0. FINAL SCORE Laredo 6, Bossier-Shreveport 3.

· 01/10/03 – SATURDAY – The Laredo Bucks beat the Corpus Christi Rayz 5-1 in front of 5,727 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The ‘Three Amigo' line of Jeff Bes, Brent Cullaton and Chris Grenville combined for two goals and four assists to lead Laredo to their fifth straight win. The Bucks are 29-5-2 and lead the CHL and the Southeast division with 60 points. David Guerrera was solid again in net as he started his second straight game and stopped 17 of 18 shots to improve 14-3-0. FINAL SCORE Laredo 5, Corpus Christi 1.

· 01/09/03 – FRIDAY – The Laredo Bucks beat the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 6-1 on Friday night at the Dodge Arena. The ‘Three Amigo' line of Jeff Bes, Brent Cullaton and Chris Grenville all had a goal as the Bucks won their fourth straight game and improved to 28-5-2. Laredo is 8-2-0 against the Killer Bees this year. Bucks goalie David Guerrera was outstanding stopping 31 of 32 shots to improve to 13-3-0. FINAL SCORE Laredo 6, Rio Grande Valley 1.

· 01/07/03 – WEDNESDAY – For a while this season it was forwards Jeff Bes and Brent Cullaton forming the dynamic duo for Laredo, but after last night it became the ‘Three Amigos' when Chris Grenville joined the party as the Bucks hammered the Austin Ice Bats 7-3 at the Laredo Entertainment Center in front of 5,811. Bes and Cullaton each had a pair of goals while Cullaton chipped in with a goal and four assists. The Bucks are 27-5-2 with a CHL and Southeast division leading 56 points. The Bucks have won three straight and recorded points in 18 of the last 20 games. Marco Emond stopped 16 of 19 shots to improve to 15-2-2. FINAL SCORE Laredo 7, Austin 3.
