Tulsa Oilers News Release
The Tulsa Oilers have announced that interim head coach Butch Kaebel will stay on as the team's head coach for the remainder of the season.
Kaebel, 37, took over when head coach Bruce Garber resigned on December 20th. He earned his first coaching victory on Christmas Day as the Oilers shut out Oklahoma City 2-0.
"We're excited to have Butch behind the bench for the rest of the year," Oilers general manager Corey MacIntyre said. "He's done a great job on the interim basis, and we're looking forward to getting him back there kickstarting the team and making a run at the playoffs."
Kaebel played 12 years of professional hockey, his last with Tulsa in 2001-2002. He scored 5 goals and 10 assists for 15 points and added 22 penalty minutes in 36 games in an Oiler uniform that year. His best season on the ice came in 1996-1997, when he scored 27 goals and 37 assists for 64 points and added 41 penalty minutes for the ECHL's Peoria Rivermen.
The Tulsa Oilers travel on the road this weekend, playing in Colorado on Friday and then in Amarillo on Saturday. Tulsa returns to home ice on Friday, January 30th, hosting the Memphis RiverKings. Individual game tickets can be purchased at the Oilers ticket office, at Carson Attractions, in the Tulsa Convention Center, plus the Drug Mart locations in Tulsa, Owasso, and Broken Arrow.
Phone orders for game tickets can be made by calling 918-584-2000 or 918-632-7825.
