Tezak Named Rawlings CPL Pitcher of the Week

Forest City, NC - Owls pitcher Ryan Tezak has been named the Rawlings Coastal Plain League Pitcher of the Week for the third week of action (June 11-17). Tezak made one appearance over the week, a start against Thomasville on Thursday, June 14th. The West Virginia product took a no-hitter into the 5th inning, and allowed just five baserunners over seven innings of work.
Tezak surrendered just two hits, a walk, and a hit batter, with the fifth baserunner reaching via an error. He earned his first win of the season with the Owls 9-2 victory over the Hi-Toms. On the season, Tezak now sports a 1-0 record, with a 1.50 ERA with opponents hitting just .175 against him.
Forest City takes on its first team from the Eastern Division, the Morehead City Marlins, tonight at McNair Field. The Forest City Owls are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 16th season in 2012, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
