Texas Winter League Players Arrive

The Texas Winter League players arrived at Harlingen Field for their first workouts today, Thursday, January 31, 2013, in preparation of the 2013 season.

The season begins on Tuesday, Feb. 5 with a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. with a game between the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings and Edinburg Road Runners, followed by a game between the Brownsville Charros and the McAllen Thunder. The teams of the TWL are adopting the nicknames of United League franchises for familiarity.

Two games will be played every day at Harlingen Field through the championship and consolation games on Feb. 27, with start times at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Off days are scheduled every Monday and Feb. 12 and 19.

Players who arrived today include Lee University's Curtis Camilli, the great-grandson of Brooklyn Dodgers great Dolph Camilli, former Harlingen South infielder Rolando Zamarripa, and even Anthony Hinderman, the bullpen catcher of the Edinburg Roadrunners looking to advance his career.
