Jackson Leef named NAHL South Player of the Week
Texas Tornado #5 Jackson Leef has been named as the NAHL South Division Player of the Week. Leef put home two goals and an assist as the Tornado celebrated a two-game sweep over New Mexico to extend its winning streak to 12 games. On Friday, the Fort Wayne, Ind., native connected for the game-winning goal in a 5-0 victory. The next night, the 18-year-old notched another goal and added an assist as the Tornado downed the Mustangs, 3-1. He was also a plus-5 for the weekend. "Jackson has received a lot of interest from Division I schools and, in a short period of time, has become one of the dominant players in this league," said Tornado head coach Tony Curtale. "He has great speed and creativity for his size (6-foot, 186 pounds) and he's only going to get better." This marks the fourth time this season a Tornado player has earned the weekly NAHL award. Forward #16 Sean Heidrick won the award back on October 18th. Defenseman #29 Ralfs Freibergs was honored October 11th and forward #19 Rock Einersen was honored back on September 20th. Goaltender #31 Jimmy Kruger was just honored this past week as NAHL Goaltender of the Month for September/October.
