Texas' Rémi Poirier Named AHL Goaltender of the Month

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Rémi Poirier of the Texas Stars has been selected as the AHL Goaltender of the Month for March.
Poirier won seven of his nine decisions in March and put up a 2.27 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage while facing an average of 33.8 shots on goal per game.
Poirier led the Stars to consecutive wins at Chicago, making 28 saves on Mar. 7 and stopping 26 shots in relief to pull out a shootout victory on Mar. 8. He allowed only two goals in a loss to Bakersfield on Mar. 13 before stopping 37 Condors shots and carrying a shutout deep into the third period of the rematch on Mar. 14. Poirier finished the month by making 40+ saves in three of his last four starts, equaling a career high with 43 stops in a 2-1 win at San Jose on Mar. 31.
Poirier has a record of 23-17-4 with a 2.62 goals-against average, a .913 save percentage and two shutouts this season, tying for the league lead with 44 appearances and ranking first with 1,161 saves. A sixth-round choice by Dallas in the 2020 NHL Draft, the 24-year-old native of Farnham, Que., is 66-49-12 with a 2.78 GAA, a .908 save percentage and six shutouts in 129 AHL games over four seasons with the Stars.
