
Texas Pirates begin training camp in Houston

Houston, TX - Thursday March 26, 2009. The Texas Pirates Football Group held its final tryout on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Kicks Indoor Sports Complex. There were 20 new hopefuls who competed for a spot on the roster.
The Pirates currently have over 35 letters of intent and were excited to see the new talent that showed up for the tryout. The coaches were already looking at some great players, and now the talent pool has increased.
The Pirates decided to invite 40 players to training camp in the Alief area of Houston. Training camp began Saturday, March 21st at the Alief Youth Association (AYA) off of Old Richmond Road. "We will be in pads and at that point, we can begin separating the men from the boys," said Head Coach Leon Thomasson, a former corner and defensive back for the Atlanta Falcons.
At the end of Tuesday, March 24 camp, Coach Thomasson stated, "It is going to be a very tough call with the talent and enthusiasm these guys are bringing to camp." The Texas Pirates first game will be Sunday, April 19, 2009 at Kicks against the Houma Conquerors. Tickets are now sale. Please visit our website at www.texaspiratesfootball.com.
