Hurricanes Involving Fans In Nickname Search
BEAUMONT, Tex. (November 24, 2009) - Texas Hurricanes owner Terry Williams is getting the fans involved with the direction of his Southern Indoor Football League team.
Beginning today, fans can vote on www.texashurricanesfootball.com for the Beaumont team's new nickname ... or to even keep the current Texas Hurricanes identity.
``I want the city of Beaumont to feel that this is their team,'' Williams said. ``This is the first step. I'm eager to see the results."
Fans can choose between seven proposed names in addition to keeping Hurricanes or even make another suggestion. ``Drillers'' - the name of Beaumont's former indoor team - is not up for consideration.
``New team, new ownership, new identity,'' Williams said.
The winner will receive two season tickets, autographed football, commenmorative t-shirts and a personal invitation to sit in the owners suite during a home game.
The rules are simple, select your favorite name or if you prefer your own name enter it in the other box. From the winning name, we will have a drawing from the list of contestants that selected that name.
You can enter more than once, but all forms must be completed entirely to qualify. The contest will run from Monday November 23, 2009 to November 30, 2009.
