Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (October 21)- Before the Brahmas can finish their celebration of the successes of last season, they must first travel to Mississippi for a Friday night matchup. On Saturday the Brahmas will host their home opener at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
Texas (1-1-0) will face Mississippi (1-2-0) Friday for the first time in the 2009-10 season at 7:05 PM. The last time the two teams faced one another the Brahmas won an overtime thriller 3-2. Goaltender Brett Jaeger stopped 44 of 46 RiverKings shots, earning first star honors. The game will be broadcast on CHL TV.
It will be a night of commemoration Saturday at NYTEX when the Brahmas unveil the Division, Conference and Championship banners as 2009 Ray Miron's Cup champions. The home opener will feature eleven Brahmas skaters who helped lead the team to its first franchise title. Among the players are: Matt Burto, Jason Deitsch, Kevin McLeod, Justin Kinnunen, Brett Jaeger, Tyler Skworchinski, Pete Rouleau, Ross Rouleau, Grant Jacobsen, Jordan Cameron and Craig Minard.
"This is the very first time we have had the chance to unveil championship banners, let alone three of them," said Brahmas GM Mike Barack. "This should be one of the most exciting events in Brahmas franchise history," he said. Visiting NYTEX for the home opener will be Mississippi as both teams turnaround from their game Friday. Game time is set for 7:05 PM. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com . The NYTEX Sports Centre, home of the 2009 CHL Champions, now offers speedy and reliable Wi-Fi powered by Great Auk Wireless.
* Although the Brahmas may be on the road, it does not mean you have to miss all the action as ZuRoma Bar and Grill at the NYTEX Sports Centre will host a game watching party for ALL Brahmas away games this season.
* Forward Jason Deitsch has been suspended one game by the CHL for his actions in Saturday's game in Colorado. Deitsch will miss Texas' game at Mississippi on Friday.
