Sundogs Ink Second-Year Forward Scott Thauwald

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Arizona Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro announced today the addition of second-year forward Scott Thauwald to the team's 2009-10 roster.

Thauwald, 24, spent his rookie season in 2008-09 splitting time with the ECHL's Augusta Lynx and Utah Grizzlies. The native of Rochester, Minnesota collected nine goals, 12 assists and 58 penalty minutes (PIM) in 67 combined regular season games with the two clubs. Thauwald also appeared in five postseason contests with Utah last season adding six PIM.

Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot, 187-pound forward played for five years at Colorado College (NCAA), registering 21 goals, 22 assists and 56 PIM in 135 collegiate games. Thauwald logged career-highs in assists (10) and points (15) and served as team captain his senior season while helping the Tigers to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) regular season title. He was named to the All-WCHA Academic Team four times during his five-year stay.

Thauwald will be in the lineup tonight as the Sundogs look for their first win of the season against the visiting Amarillo Gorillas at Tim's Toyota Center. Game time is set for 7:05pm.
