Texas Fends off Killer Bees, Bees Fall 4-1

FORT WORTH, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (24-26-7) split their weekend series with the Texas Brahmas (30-19-8) as the Brahmas salvaged their Fort Worth Face-Off Weekend with a 4-1 victory over the Bees on Saturday night. Nicolas Rioux scored the Bees lone goal.

Texas took a 1-0 lead in the first period as Chad Woollard found the back of the net at the 13:40 mark of the period. Wylie Rogers, who shutout Texas last night, made the first save on Brendon Hodge but the rebound was slapped home.

Texas would score the next two goals of the game in the second period as Brendon Hodge found the back of the net after a collection of Brahmas shots were turned away and then while on the power-play Chad Woollard scored his second of the game at 7:54 of the second.

Each team would lose two players at the 9:28 mark of the second as multiple scraps broke out on the ice. Brady Leavold and Georgi Petrov were ejected for the Bees and Tyler Barr and Chris Moran were ejected for the Brahmas.

Nicolas Rioux would get a goal back for the Bees at the 15:48 mark of the second while on the power-play. Aaron Lee slid the puck to Rioux who wristed a shot past Guggenberger to bring the Bees within two goals.

The Bees would battle in the third period but were unable to get another goal to the back of the net. The Brahmas added an empty net goal late in the third period to pad their lead to three.
