Montgomery pounds the Smokies on a cold and frosty Monday Night at Smokies Park in front of 1,343 fans. They pounded fifteen hits with ten run in the lopsided effort.
Jake McGee was sharp pacing the Biscuits going 5 innings yielding only one hit in his start. The southpaw retired fourteen straight after a leadoff walk to start the Smokies first. McGee would tally his first win of the season walking three and striking out five. The Biscuits over came an early 1-0 Tennessee lead by plating four runs in the third. Nine would bat in the in the inning with six singles.
Tennessee scored in the fifth when Corey Coles drove in Matt Camp to draw back within 4-2.
Montgomery then tagged the Smokies for three more in the sixth and eighth innings to put the contest out of reach. The Smokies continue the home stand Tuesday night with the Montgomery Biscuits beginning at 7:15 p.m. Smokies right-hander Jeff Samardzija (2-0, 0.75) will face off against Biscuits Wade Davis (2-0, 4.09)
