Tennessee Out-Slugs Pensacola to Take a 3-2 Series Lead

PENSACOLA, FL- The Smokies scored six runs in the first three innings to win their third consecutive game in Pensacola. Tennessee out-hit Pensacola 11-10 in a slugfest on Saturday night to take a 3-2 series lead.

The Smokies first baseman Haydn McGeary had his best game in Double-A, going 3-for-5 with 4 RBI's and a 3-run home run. Smokies outfielder Bradlee Beesley got back on track with a 2-for-3 day, with a team high 4 runs scored along with 3 RBI's.

Tennessee starter DJ Herz punched out five batters in 4.2 innings pitched in tonight's victory. Smokies reliever Samuel Reyes picked up his first win of the season with two shutout innings and two strikeouts.

The Smokies improved to 21-7 overall in 2023, remaining in first place in the Southern League North. The Blue Wahoos drop to 24-14 and still remain in first place in the Southern League South. The series finale between the Smokies and the Blue Wahoos is set for 5:05 P.M. EST tomorrow night.
