Omaha Lancers News Release

Jeff Teglia turned aside all 24 shots he faced and Matt White broke a scoreless deadlock just prior to the midway point of the third period as the Omaha Lancers outlasted the Fargo Force 2-0 Friday evening at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Game 1 of the West Division Finals. With the win, the Lancers now lead the best-of-five series one game to none.

Neither side was able to find the back of the net in the opening period of play despite a combined 16 shots on goal. Omaha's Jeff Teglia turned aside all nine Force shots he faced in period one, including the game's first six total shots, while Fargo's Ryan Massa denied all seven Lancers shots he faced in the period.

The second period of play presented much of the same action as both sides generated quality scoring chances but both goaltenders continued to hold their ground. Teglia stopped all nine Fargo shots he saw in the frame while at the other end Massa stonewalled each of Omaha's 13 shots in the second period.

The Lancers finally broke the scoreless deadlock in the 48th minute of play as Seth Ambroz broke free on the right wing in throwing a centering pass toward the Fargo net, which was punched in from the blue paint of the goal crease by a streaking Matt White. Ambroz and Erik Haula assisted on White's 3rd goal of the playoffs which was netted 7:11 into the third period. Omaha added an insurance marker with exactly four minutes left in regulation when a forecheck below the goal line between Dakota Eveland and Troy Power led to a pass in the slot, which was roofed home by Greg Wolfe for his 2nd goal of the postseason. The goal extended Wolfe's point streak to 11 straight games and marked the 21st time in 24 games with Omaha that Wolfe has found the scoresheet.

Teglia earned the victory in goal for Omaha turning aside all 24 shots he faced for his first career USHL playoff shutout. The native of Bloomingdale, Illinois is now 4-0 this postseason. Meanwhile, Fargo's Massa suffered his first loss of the playoffs despite 29 saves on 31 Omaha shots.

The Lancers are back in action tomorrow evening when they welcome the Fargo Force back to the Omaha Civic Auditorium for Game 2 of the West Division Finals.
