For the first game of the week the Cyclones traveled to Fayetteville Thursday night in hopes of stringing together three wins in a row. Not only was Twin City victorious, but they shut out the FireAntz 5-0.

Donald Melnyk started the scoring off for the Cyclones with a powerplay goal in the first period.

Cyclones Lose in Shoot Out to Knoxville, 3-2

December 20, 2008 Winston-Salem, NC

To finish out this week's games, the Cyclones traveled to Knoxville to face off against the Ice Bears for the second time this week. Looking to get revenge from last night's loss, the Cyclones fought a hard battle, forcing a shoot out, but were unable to come away with the win.

The first period saw no scoring by either team leaving the score tied at zero heading into the second.

Michael Richard would change the tide for the Cyclones at 1:30 in the second with an unassisted goal. However, Kevin Swider answered back for the Ice Bears with a goal at 5:06 to knot the game at one. Knoxville overtook the Cyclones at 17:22 with another goal from Swider. Going into the final period, the Ice Bears were up 2-1.

Ben Manny tied the game at two on a powerplay goal which would send the teams into overtime.

After five minutes of overtime, neither team scored, which forced a shoot out.

Both Matt Puntureri and Donald Melnyk got shots past the Ice Bear's netminder, but Knoxville was able to get three past Terry Dunbar. Final score 3-2, Knoxville. The Cyclones gained one point for forcing overtime.
