
Taylor and Botterill re-sign with Buffalo

(Rochester, NY)... The Buffalo Sabres announced today that center Chris Taylor and left wing Jason Botterill have re-signed for the 2003-04 season.
Taylor enters his fifth season in the Sabres organization, most of which has been spent with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. This past season he won his second straight team scoring title, recording 67 points (12+55) in 61 games. During the 2002-03 campaign, Taylor finished second in the AHL with 55 assists. He also played in 11 games with the Buffalo Sabres and collected one goal and three assists. He was named the Amerks' MVP for the second consecutive season. In addition, he won the team's Fairand/O'Neil Sportsmanship Award.
Taylor currently ranks 18th on the franchise's all-time assists list with 152. In 232 games with the Amerks, Taylor has registered 74 goals and 152 assists for 226 points. He has also served as one of the team's alternate captains for the past three seasons.
The Stratford, Ontario, native was originally selected by the New York Islanders in the second round (27th overall) of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft.
Botterill returns for his second season with the Buffalo Sabres organization. The Edmonton, Alberta, native finished second in the American Hockey League with 37 goals and was second on the Amerks with 59 points in 64 games (37+22). Botterill led Rochester with 13 power-play goals and 208 shots during the 2002-03 season. For his efforts, he was honored as the Amerks Booster Club's Most Popular Player.
Botterill also played in 17 games with the Sabres and recorded one goal and four assists. He originally signed with Buffalo prior to the 2002-03 and was a first-round selection (20th overall) of the Dallas Stars in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
