Tauros 20 Questions: #4 Martin Aune
August 21, 2015 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Minot Minotauros News Release
As the season approaches we will be giving you a chance to meet the new Tauros as well as learn a little more about the returning players by asking them 20 questions. We will be going in number order; yesterday we profiled Max Mettler and today we hear from Martin Aune. Come back tomorrow to hear from Jared Brandt. For a full list of the past Tauros 20 Questions look to the bottom of this page.
Martin Aune is the first of the Tauros import players for our 20 Questions series. In four games last season skating with the Minotauros the native or Norway certainly made an impression. At 6'4" and 195 lbs. it is hard to miss Aune on the ice, though in his first game with the Tauros Aune did manage to sneak up on Aberdeen's Austin Heakins. That was not Aune's only big hit with the Tauros though it may be his most memorable. Aune also had an assist and finished +1 in his four game stint as an Affiliate Player with the Tauros.
Aside from skating with the Tauros last season Aune was an Arizona Bobcats. In 22 games played in the NAPHL with Arizona, Aune posted two goals and seven assists. With Jake Dittel, Jared Brandt, Max Mettler, and Luke Davison; all returning along with 2nd round draft pick James LaDouce coming from the USHL, the 1997 born Aune will be able to ease into a role on the blue line. His size will certainly be an attribute in front of the Tauros goal, and if he continues to hit like he did when he was in Minot last season he will quickly become a fan favorite.
From the Coach's Office: Martin caught our eye when he skated for us last season for a few practices. His physical stature is obvious, but he moves well for a big kid, and can chip in offensively. During main camp, Martin made great decisions with the puck and has a great shot. Aune can punish the opposition with his physical play, and as he understands the junior game, he can be a valuable member of our blueline. - Head Coach Marty Murray
