Topeka Tarantulas News Release
[TOPEKA, K.S.] - The Topeka Tarantulas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that the club has signed defenseman John Donnelly.
Donnelly, a 6'4" 205 pound defenseman, from Marquette, Michigan split last season with the Elmira Jackals of the United Hockey League (UHL), and the Augusta Lynx and Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL. With the three clubs, Donnelly tallied four points and seven penalty minutes in 48 games played.
Prior to his professional career, Donnelly played with St. Norbert College (NCAA Division III) from 2000/01-2002/03. Donnelly had 26 points and 53 penalty minutes in 69 games played.
Donnelly said of his decision to sign with Topeka, "I heard really good things about Joe [Coombs] and Troy [Mann] when talking to my buddies about the Central Hockey League and their coaches. Joe and Troy were honest and upfront and that really bodes well of how a coach deals with his players."
Season tickets, group tickets, and mini-plans for the 2004-2005 season are now available. Contact the Tarantulas office at (785) 235-9466 for more information.
