Tarantulas make trade

Topeka, Kansas: July 7, 2004 – The Topeka Tarantulas of the Central Hockey League have obtained the rights to defenseman Peter Robertson in a trade that sends center Jay Woodcroft to the Oklahoma City Blazers, Tarantulas head coach Joe Coombs announced today.

Robertson, 30, has 52 goals and 119 assists for 171 points in 325 professional games. He also has 245 penalty minutes. His best professional season was in 2001-02 when he scored 16 goals and added 31 assists for 47 points in 64 games with the Oklahoma City Blazers of the CHL.

The 6’, 210 lbs. Robertson just completed his fourth season with Oklahoma City. His rookie campaign was with the Macon Whoopee.

During the 2000-01 season Robertson scored a career-high five playoff goals and added two assists, while spending 22 minutes in the penalty in 13 playoff games as the Blazers won the Central Hockey League championship.

In 26 career playoff games, Robertson, of Rothesay, New Brunswick, has six playoff goals and six assists for 12 points and has spent 28 minutes in the penalty box.

In the trade the Blazers receive Woodcroft, a 28-year old center, who has 45 goals and 54 assists for 99 points in 217 regular season games. In five playoff games he has no goals and one assist for one point and 12 penalty minutes.

Woodcroft, who was obtained from Corpus Christi in a multi-player deal, has played for five teams in four leagues during his five-year professional career.

Tarantula season tickets are on sale now at Landon Arena, or by phone at 785-235-9466. The 60-game regular season will begin October 22 and conclude March 20. The schedule will be released later this month.
