Danbury Trashers News Release
DANBURY, CT--It would have been difficult for any goaltender to exceed Jason Tapp's 41-save effort in Quad City's 6-4 opening game playoff win over Danbury, unless you're Jason Tapp. The Mallards netminder stopped 50 of 51 Trashers shots as Quad City rallied from an early deficit for the second straight night to defeat the Danbury Trashers 3-1 in Game Two of the UHL opening round playoff series on Saturday night.
J.M. Daoust scored on the first shot of the game for the Trashers as he nestled a wrap-around past Tapp at the 1:29 mark of the first period, but Tapp was spectacular for the remainder of the game.
Matt Radoslovich tied the score for the second straight night as he scored a shorthanded goal on Daigle at the 3:32 mark, taking a shot from the right wing circle with the Mallards in a 2-on-1 rush. The score remained tied at 1-1 until late in the second period when Chad Woolard scored his 3rd playoff goal as he ripped a shot from the slot past Daigle at 16:56, with Radoslovich gaining the lone assist after the Trashers had difficulty clearing the puck from their zone.
Jesse Rycroft's second goal of the series was an empty net goal to seal the win at the 18:32 mark, as the Trashers emptied the net as they were on the power play to gain a 6 on 4 advantage. The Trashers finished the game 0-12 on the power play and are just 2-22 with the extra man in the series. The Mallards were 0-7 on the power play and are 3-16 in the series.
Daigle stopped 18 of 20 shots in dropping his second straight game as the Trashers fall behind 2-0 in the best-of-seven series to Quad City. The series moves to Moline, Illinois for games 3-4, which will take place on Wedneday and Friday night at 8pm. Game five if necessary will take place next Saturday starting at 8pm, with all games at the MARK of the Quad Cities.
Possible games six and seven would take place at the Danbury Ice Arena on May 1st and 2nd at 7:00pm.
