Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA BAY - The Arena Football League has announced that Storm quarterback Brett Dietz has been named AFL Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Tampa Bay's 61-55 victory against the New Orleans VooDoo in Week 14.

Dietz, 6-foot-4, 220-pounds, is a rookie out of Hanover College, connected on 23 of 30 passes for 315 yards and eight touchdowns to lead the Storm to victory this past Saturday. Dietz threw touchdown passes on each of Tampa Bay's first seven possessions and led the Storm's offense to scores on all 10 of the team's drives while compiling the highest passer rating of Week 14 (149.3). The victory catapulted Tampa Bay back into the playoff picture.

Dietz's eight touchdowns tied a franchise and career high which he last accomplished against the Arizona Rattlers in Week 12. His performance came on the heels of earning AFL Rookie of the Month honors for the month of May, in which he led all rookie quarterbacks in passing yards and touchdowns.

"Brett has shown a lot of poise for a young quarterback," said Storm Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum. "He continues to work hard and prepare. We are excited about his future as he continues to grow."

Other weekly winners included: Dallas Desperados' wide receiver/defensive back Will Pettis (Ironman) and Utah Blaze's defensive back Dahnel Singfield (ADT Defensive).

Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Austin's Lang Campbell and Derrick Lewis, Dallas' Clint Dolezel, Georgia's Chris Greisen, Arizona's Jeremiah Pope, Kansas City's Charles Frederick, San Jose's Mark Grieb and James Roe, Tampa Bay's Hank Edwards and Terrill Shaw.

The 2007 Storm season, presented by Champs Sports, Where Sports Lives, returns to action at the St. Pete Times Forum Saturday, June 9 at 7:30 p.m. EST as the Tampa Bay Storm host their National Conference rival Philadelphia Soul.
