Tampa Bay Rowdies News Release

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Tampa Bay Rowdies have bolstered their front-line depth with the addition of forward Danny Mwanga on a one-year contract with a club option for 2017, the club announced Monday. Per club and league policy, further contract details were not disclosed.

Mwanga, 24, joins the Tampa Bay Rowdies with experience beyond his years. The No. 1 overall pick by the Philadelphia Union in the 2010 Major League Soccer SuperDraft has played for four teams in MLS. He spent the 2015 season with Orlando City SC. He also arrives with NASL experience, having played for the New York Cosmos on loan from the Colorado Rapids in 2014.

Mwanga got off to a hot start in his first few years as a professional, tallying 15 goals in three seasons for the Union and the Portland Timbers. In Tampa Bay, Mwanga will be reunited with former Timbers teammate Kalif Alhassan.

Mwanga joins a Tampa Bay Rowdies forward rotation that already includes Georgi Hristov and Tommy Heinemann as the Tampa Bay Rowdies look to increase their goal total in the 2016 North American Soccer League season.
