Tulsa Talons News Release

TULSA, Okla. - The af2 Tulsa Talons and Co-Owner/General Manager, Paul Ross, are thrilled to announce today the addition of two players and the re-signing of one former Talons' players. The arenafootball2 (af2) league office has officially assigned OL/DL Ahmad Willis and Spencer Conley and DS Ty Ardoin.

OL/DL Ahmad Willis (6'2, 275 lbs, 1-year) joins the Talons for another season. Last season, Willis recorded 12 total tackles (8 solo), 6 tackles for loss for 27 yards, 4 sacks for 22 yards, 2 quarterback hurries, 2 blocked kicks, 2 fumbles forced, 1 fumble recovered for 38 yards and a touchdown. Prior to the Talons, Willis played for the af2 Memphis Xplorers.

"Ahmad is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated lineman in the league. He doesn't have the size of most lineman he goes against, but he makes up for this with his unbelievable strength and quickness. You can put Ahmad at just about any position in the trenches and he is going to be a nightmare for opponents. We are very pleased to be bringing him back for the '05 season," stated Offensive Coordinator/Player Personnel, Coach Allner.

OL/DL Spencer Conley (6'3, 280 lbs, 3-years) joins the Talons after serving time with the af2 Rio Grande Valley Dorados. Last season, 32-year old Conley recorded 36 total tackles (21 solo), 13 tackles for loss for 61 yards, 8.5 sacks for 55 yards, 2 quarterback hurries, 3 pass deflects, 4 fumbles forced and 2 fumble recoveries. In 2001, Conley played for the af2 Norfolk Nighthawks, in 2002 for the Cape Fear Wildcats during playoffs and in 2003 for Albany Conquest. As a Dorado, Conley received All-af2 First Team OL/DL for the National Conference. Before his professional career, Conley attended Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas, but left early to take his game to the pro level. In 1994, Conley played in one game in the Arena Football League (AFL) for the Fort Worth Cavalry. In 1998, Conley played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the San Antonio Texans, which was their only season in the CFL and attended training camp with the San Francisco 49ers. Conley was also a part of the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) Louisiana Bayou Beast championship team.

"Spencer brings us a presence on both sides of the ball. Adding him along with the guys we have returning to our team is only going to make us stronger. We have very high expectations for him and I will be disappointed if he does not have his best season yet of his af2 career," stated Coach Allner.

DS Ty Ardoin (6'0, 205, 2-years) joins the Talons after serving two-years with the af2 Wichita Stealth. In two years, Ardoin has recorded 3 rushes for 9 yards, 8 catches for 90 yards and one touchdown, 17 kickoff returns, 137 total tackles (94 solo), 4 tackles for loss for 5 yards, 6 interceptions for 46 yards, 30 pass deflects, 3 fumbles forced and 2 fumble recoveries in 31 games for the Stealth. Ardoin is a DS and 2-way player. Last season, Ardoin was the ADT Defensive Player of the Game against us at our home turf where he lead in tackles with 13 solo and 2 assisted tackles.

"Ty is a terrific athlete and a wonderful addition to our team. He is a guy that you can play at a lot of different positions and he will be successful for you. I know he is going to be a great fit for our team this year," stated Coach Allner.

The Tulsa Talons kick-off their 2005 season on April 1st at the Amarillo Civic Center versus af2's new arrival, the Amarillo Dusters.
