San Antonio Talons News Release
SAN ANTONIO (December 8, 2012) - The entire Talons organization is deeply saddened by the news of Jerry Brown's passing. He was an integral part of the Talons success in their first season. "Brown was a very talented football player and good human being. We are sad to see such a wonderful guy who had realized his dream of breaking into the NFL have his life cut short by such a tragic accident," said Talons owner A. David Lynd.
Former teammate Pierre Turner was shocked by the news, "The guy was a phenomenal athlete who made to the next level when his career was just beginning. It's sad to see him go when he had so much to look forward to."
Brown, a native of St. Louis, Missouri started playing football at age 6 and always dreamed of being a professional player. He played for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He played shortly for the San Antonio Talons where he recorded 29 tackles and five sacks before singing with the Indianapolis Colts in May. He played one game with the Colts before being released. He was shortly after signed by the Dallas Cowboys.
In support of Jerry Brown, the Talons organization plans on holding a fundraiser during one of next season's games with the funds going to Brown's unborn child.
The San Antonio Talons are entering into their second season in the Arena Football League (AFL). The team was moved to San Antonio from Tulsa, OK in 2012 and won the AFL's Central Division title, as well as hosted their first AFL playoff game in the 2012 season.
