Tulsa Talons News Release

Quarterback, John Fitzgerald joins the Talons late in the season after playing for the Kansas City Brigade of the AFL. Prior to playing with the Brigade, he spent the 2007 season as the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator of the af2's Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz. He coached the Dawgz to a 7-9 record; finishing second in the league in both pass offense and total offense.

As a player, Fitzgerald spent seven years in the AFL, playing for the Carolina Cobras, New Orleans VooDoo, Austin Wranglers, Dallas Desperados, Tampa Bay, Indiana, Houston, Grand Rapids and the Kansas City Brigade. He still holds a spot in the AFL Career Leader Board for passing yards, touchdowns, pass attempts and pass completions.

"John is a great addition to our team. At this point in the season we really needed a veteran quarterback and we could not have gotten a better one. His leadership and experience will be a real asset for our team going down this home stretch. I'm looking forward to watching him under center the rest of the season," said Talons Head Coach Mitch Allner.

Prior to his professional football career, Fitzgerald played for the Golden Hurricanes with the University of Tulsa. He was a four-year letter winner (1994-1998) finishing his career with 5,822 passing yards and as the second all-time passer.
