Lehigh Valley Steelhawks News Release
Bethlehem, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks are pleased to announce that three Hawks have been added to the roster after their performances at the first 2016 open tryout. Please welcome WR Warren Oliver Jr. (Rowan), OL Tyler Dean (Lebanon Valley), and LB/DL Jamiel Sims (West Chester University) to the Lehigh Valley.
After starting school at Lycoming College, Oliver transferred to Rowan University where in two years he tallied 639 yards on 54 receptions and seven touchdowns. In 2014 he received New Jersey Athletic Conference All-Conference second team honors.
Dean earned a starting role his freshman year at Lebanon Valley College but his season was cut short due to injury. He ended his career with 31 consecutive starts, 39 overall. His senior year he was named USA College Football Honorable Mention All-America, second-team All-ECAC, first-team All-MAC, and was a Dream Bowl Senior All-Star Game participant. At West Chester, Sims registered 23 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, half a sack, and a fumble recovery.
"Our first of three planned open tryouts this off-season was another huge success. It was a great day work and we had around 40 or more guys looking to make a dream come a reality and for three of them it did. Getting Jamiel, Tyler, and Warren has us very excited as the overall level of talent at the workout was very good and we look forward to seeing what the November tryout brings for us."
