Frederick Keys News Release

A night after its most lopsided loss of the 2011 season, the Keys turned the tables on Winston-Salem racking up 12 runs in its biggest win of the year - a 12-0 shutout victory over the Dash.

The barrage started early as the Keys started a two-out first inning rally. SS Manny Machado walked and reached third base on a single off the right-field wall by 1B Aaron Baker. Machado would score on a single by CF Miguel Abreu. Next up was 1B Mike Flacco who doubled home two runs and the rout was on.

Baker would homer in the fourth inning to give the Keys a 4-0 lead. Later in the contest 2B Jonathan Schoop would add a three-run home run and Flacco plated the last two runs with a two-run home run in the eighth inning. Both Schoop and Flacco drove home four runs in the game.

Slightly overshadowed with the offensive onslaught was starter Scott Copeland who had an outstanding Carolina League debut. He worked six shutout innings, allowed just two hits for his first win since a June 27th start with Class-A Delmarva.

Frederick returns home to face Winston-Salem for a weekend four-game series beginning Thursday, August 11th. Friday, the 12th will be Fritos Family Friday with Wrestling Great Jerry "The King" Lawler in attendance signing autographs throughout the game for free.
