Walleye Notes Off to a quick start: Toledo started the week with a bang scoring a pair of goals in the first 2:24 of the game Friday night in Quad City. A.J. Jenks lit the lamp late in the second period to propel the Walleye to a 3-2 season-opening win. Kyle Bonis scored twice in Fort Wayne Saturday night but the Walleye were bested 4-2 by the Komets.

Bonis doubles up: Forward Kyle Bonis scored both of Toledo's goals on Saturday night in the second game of the season for the Walleye. Last year in the second game of the season, Bonis went for a hat trick in Atlanta leading to him winning ECHL player of the week honors.

Opening the year 1-0: Toledo started the season 1-0 for the first time since it beat Fort Wayne 4-3 in a shootout to open the 2013-14 season. All-Time the Walleye have a record of 4-4-1 in games that start a season dating back to the 2009 season when the Walleye started to play. Combined with the Toledo Storm (14-2-0), Toledo has an all-time ECHL record of 18-6-1 to start seasons.

Ducks come calling: The lone game on the schedule this week is the Walleye home opener against the team they started the season against, the Quad City Mallards. Toledo bested the Mallards 3-2 last Friday night in Quad City in the first of seven meetings this year.

The Huntington Center is ready: Opening Night is always one of the biggest parties and this year is no different. The fun starts with the Opening Night Tailgate Party at 2 p.m. in Hensville Park. Also on tap is the Opening Night pregame Brewfest plus a pregame Rally Towel and magnet schedule giveaway. For tickets go to ToledoWalleye.com
