T-Birds Back on Home Ice Thursday & Friday Night at 7:30PM

February 16, 2004 - South East Hockey League (SEHL) - Winston-Salem T-Birds News Release


The Winston-Salem T-Birds, looking to get back into the win column, return to the friendly confines of the Joel Coliseum Annex for home games on Thursday & Friday night. The T-Birds begin the week in the South East Hockey League with a record of 16 wins and 25 losses.

Following the back to back home games, the T-Birds will wrap up the weekend in Knoxville on Saturday night.

“Carolina Thunderbirds” Reunion

Friday night’s game will honor members of the 1988-89 Champion Carolina Thunderbirds along with Thunderbird players from other years in Winston-Salem. Among the players who will be in attendance include five players from the 1988-89 team:

Randy Irving (current T-Birds Head Coach), Bob Wensley, E.J. Sauer, Matt Winnicki, and Brian Clark.

Three other members of that team are coaching at the professional level. John Torchetti is the Head Coach of the NHL’s Florida Panthers, Scott Allen is the Head Coach of the San Antonio Rampage in the AHL, and Goaltender Nick Vitucci is the Head Coach of the Toledo Storm in the ECHL.

T-Birds Player Highlights

Forward Chris Seifert leads the T-Birds in scoring, goals, and assists. Seifert, from Fairfield, Connecticut, has tallied 20 goals-21 assists-41 points for Winston-Salem.

Defenseman Hunter Lahache leads the T-Birds in penalty minutes with 166 in ten games with the team. Lahache is fifth in the SEHL in penalty minutes.

Forward Jason Sangiuliano is second in scoring on the T-Birds roster. Jason has 14 goals-18 assists-32 points.
