Syracuse Silver Knights to Host Local Side Fort Drum Mountain Lions

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Silver Knights will host the Fort Drum Mountain Lions in a preseason match at the CNY Family Sports Centre on Saturday at 7:00 PM EST. The November 1 exhibition will give fans their first chance to see the team as they enter the Major Arena Soccer League. It will be the Knights' lone tune up before the Salt City club's MASL season opener against the Baltimore Blast on November 8.
The Orange, Silver and Black's exhibition tilt is a free event for VIP Members & Season Ticket Holders. Current season ticket holders will have a chance to meet the team at 5:30 PM when food and drinks will be served.
Supporters will have the opportunity to meet the team, pick up season tickets, VIP passes, posters and autographs. Tickets to all Silver Knights home games will be available at the CNY Family Sports Centre, or find information at syracusesilverknights.com or over the phone at 315-303-7261.
"Season ticket holders will be able to pick up their tickets and meet the team," Vice President Allen La Venture said. "For the first time ever we will be offering season parking passes for the Oncenter War Memorial Arena."
The November 1 matchup marks the first-ever meeting between the Fort Drum Mountain Lions and Syracuse Silver Knights. Coach Tanner's club has never opened the preseason against a non-MISL opponent. Formed in 2009, the Watertown club won the 2013 Tug Hill Summer League, when the side went 11-2 en route to the championship. The Mountain Lions are comprised of 30 players from around the globe, including soldiers, military dependents and Department of the Army Contractors assigned to the U.S. Army Fort Drum & 10th Mountain Division.
"This is a great opportunity to build a relationship with the Mountain Lions in something that helps the local community," La Venture explained. "We want to show our commitment to Central New York, while showing we have a lot of men and serving in the area."
Syracuse took care of Baltimore in last year's preseason slate to start a magical run to the MISL Semifinals. In front of a packed CNY Family Sports Centre, the Orange, Silver and Black earned an 8-2 victory behind LJ Papaleo's brace.
The Silver Knights will kick off its fourth pro indoor soccer season in the MASL on November 8 on the road against the Baltimore Blast, followed by the home opener versus the Ontario Fury on November 21 at the Oncenter War Memorial Arena at 7:30 PM.
