Norfolk, Virginia - In front of a 2,347 cheering fans at Norfolk Scope Arena, the Syracuse Silver Knights dominated the Norfolk SharX 23-7 with a goal-heavy win that puts them at 2-0 on the season, leading the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL).

The SharX started off slowly, allowing a composed Syracuse to dictate the pace of the game - perhaps the result of a few jitters and not having played very long together as a team. And the Silver Knights took advantage scoring 7 unanswered points by the end of the first quarter to make the score 7-0 on one three-point and two two-point goals by Andre Berenzon.

In the second quarter, however, the SharX gained their composure and played a good half of soccer, but was stopped cold by a very calm and powerful Eric Reed, the Silver Knights acclaimed goal keeper.

After the half, Syracuse then continued its dominance of the SharX with a bevy of goals including a 2-point strike by Slavisa Ubiparipovic, which made it 9-5. But a SharX power play goal by Miguel Ferrer put the home team back to within two but Norfolk ran out of steam with the score 9-7.

From there forward the Silver Knights showed why there is talk of them being one of the best teams in the league. Syracuse scored 11 unanswered points and put the game away. Three two-point and one 3-point goals from Ubiparapovic, plus goals by Andriy Budnyy, Daniel Hall and Diego Barrera made the final score 23-7.

Silver Knights Head Coach Tommy Tanner said, "We are still learning to play as a team, but it was great to see the guys finding the back of the net. This should help prepare us for another big game tomorrow against the Baltimore Blast."

The Silver Knights will play 22 more games this season, 11 at home, 11 on the road and will compete against teams from Milwaukee, Missouri, Baltimore, Rochester, Wichita, and Norfolk.
