Wichita Wings Game Preview

November 11, 2011 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Wichita Wings News Release

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) will travel to Milwaukee, Wisconsin this weekend to take on divisional rivals Milwaukee Wave in the Wings 3rd regular season game. Kick-off of the game is scheduled at 3:00pm (CT) on Sunday, November 13th at the U.S. Cellular Arena.

This will be the Wave's first game of the 2011-2012 MISL season; Milwaukee enters as the defending MISL Champions. The Wave went 15-5 in the 2010-2011 season, beating the Missouri Comets in 3 games of semi-final playoffs to move onto the MISL Championship game. Milwaukee went on to beat the Baltimore Blast 16-7 taking the MISL crown.

Led by the most successful head coach in MISL history, Keith Tozer, the Wave features a core group of veteran players looking to repeat an MISL Champions.

Wichita, an expansion team re-joining the MISL this season under new ownership, enters the game with a record of 0-2. The Wings lost two close games against Missouri last weekend in the MISL opening weekend double header.

The Wings, lead by rookie Head Coach and former Wings standout player LeBaron Hollimon, have within them the makings of a great team. Along with a core group of veterans, the team features several young talents looking to get their feet wet in the MISL.

Key match-ups: Wave's forward Marco Terminesi vs. Wings goalkeeper Sanaldo Carvalho. Terminesi led the Wave last season with 83 points. He will be facing the Wings premier goalkeeper Carvalho. Milwaukee is known to get out fast, and Sanaldo's ability to shut down the Wave early could likely determine the outcome of the game.

Keep an eye on: Waves Defender Joe Hammes vs. Wings Forward Carlos "Chile" Farias. Both serve as multiple threat positions for their respected teams. Chile's well know ability to score and create opportunities for his teammates could be stifled by the veteran defender Hammes, who is also know to be a high scoring threat.

The Wings will return home to Hartman Arena on November 19th to take on the Baltimore Blast.
