Syracuse Set to Face Wings, Look for Third-Straight Win

December 6, 2012 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Syracuse Silver Knights News Release

Syracuse, NY-The Syracuse Silver Knights of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) are set for their fourth consecutive home game as they host the Wichita Wings at the Oncenter War Memorial this Saturday, December 8, at 7 p.m.

Operation Sandy Relief will be collecting new and unwrapped toys, games, crayons, and coloring books at Saturday's game to aid children that have been affected by the tragic natural disaster.

After losing five of their first six games, Syracuse has found its stride as of late, winning back-to-back games after dealing Andre Berenzon and Matt Clare to Wichita for Jamar Beasley and Bryan Perez.

Perez debuted for the Knights last Friday in a 13-7 home win against Missouri, scoring the team's final goal and giving them a crucial six-point fourth-quarter cushion.

Jamar Beasley made a dream debut in Syracuse's 23-8 rout over the rival Rochester Lancers last Sunday, scoring the team's first two goals and setting up another with an assist. Beasley, along with teammates Bryan O'Quinn and Ryan Hall, was named to the MISL Team of the Week.

Currently sitting at the bottom of the standings, Wichita's only win this season came when they hosted the Silver Knights on November 18 in the two sides' first matchup of the year. Federico Moojen gave the home side an 8-6 victory when he scored in overtime.

This weekend, Wichita will travel to Baltimore to take on the Blast in a contest in which new signings Andre Berenzon and Matt Clare will make their debut for the Wings. On Saturday, the duo will make their return to Syracuse to take on their former team for the first time.

SYRACUSE KEY TO VICTORY:

Tommy Tanner's team is currently in its best form of the season thus far after picking up huge wins last weekend against the Comets and Lancers. Outstanding goalkeeping and stifling team-defense have been the Knights' consistent trademarks this year, but a ruthless transition game has given Tanner's squad a new-found sense of confidence. It is important for Syracuse to ride the momentum from last weekend's pair of wins by continuing to excel in all facets of their coach's game-plan if they hope to spoil Berenzon and Clare's return to the War Memorial.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

Jamar Beasley and Bryan Perez have provided an immediate spark to the Silver Knights' offense and the pair will be keen on having another spectacular performance when they face the team that traded them away just a week ago. Look for both Perez and Beasley to play a major role in Syracuse's game-plan Saturday night.
