Syracuse Raging Bullz News Release
Syracuse, NY. The ABA Syracuse professional basketball team today announced the appointment of their General Manager and Head Coach. According to Nicholas Fitts, team owner, "Two very good men, lots of experience, a winning attitude on and off the court. We're going to have a great season."
Michael Brown has been named General Manager. A graduate of Wilson High School in Rochester NY, a graduate of the State University of New York College at Potsdam NY with a degree in Industrial Labor Relations, Mr. Brown played four years of basketball at Potsdam College and has been inducted into three Halls of Fame for basketball, including college, high school and NY State Section V. He is a four-time gold medal winning athlete at the NY State Empire State games and is currently a high school and college basketball official. "I know we're going to have a competitive team on the court. My job is to have a successful organization off the court - with sponsorships, ticket sales, community and press relations - and the other things that make for a good solid business. We have received tremendous support from the community and the press and media and feel that we are off to a great start," stated Brown.
Terrill A. Dean, a native of Syracuse NY, has been named Head Coach. Mr. Dean has over 12 years of experience in basketball with his most recent coaching stint being at SUNY Canton where he was head coach for six years. While at SUNY Canton, his teams won 3 regular season Northern Independence Conference Championships and qualified for the NJCAA regional tournament. He is known for being a motivator and an excellent teacher of basketball.
Terrill attended St. Lawrence University where he played. After completing college, he was assistant coach at Fowler High School in Syracuse, SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson University. "We think we're in the toughest ABA division, including having the ABA Champion Vermont Frost Heaves in our division. It is going to take a very good team to compete. But based on the talent I've seen, we will be competitive. I am excited about the challenge," said Dean. The team begins play in November.
