Sportsvite Teams Up With The ABA To Make Every Pickup Basketball Player's Dream Come True

June 19, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

New York, NY/Indianapolis, IN. Sportsvite (www.sportsvite.com) and The American Basketball Association (ABA) (www.abalive.com) know local basketball. This summer, the two organizations will partner to introduce Sportsvite's 40,000+ members to special ABA promotions and discounts on tickets, apparel and other merchandise...and to start a nationwide search for the top amateur basketball player.

"Basketball is one of Sportsvite's most popular sports, and partnering with the ABA gives our members a great opportunity to engage with professional basketball at a local level in cities across the country," said Neal Shenoy, Sportsvite's co-founder and VP for Corporate Development. "Thirty percent of our members use Sportsvite for playing basketball - managing amateur leagues, finding teams and organizing pick-up games."

As part of the new partnership, Sportsvite and the ABA will launch an online video contest to find the best amateur basketball player. Details about the "Play with the Pros" contest will be announced later this month.

"Forging stronger ties with our teams' communities and getting more adults to play and love basketball - that's essential for the ABA," said Joe Newman, ABA co-founder and chairman. "A partnership with Sportsvite also allows us to introduce our fans to new, healthy ways to stay active and enjoy sports."

Sportsvite membership and eligibility for ABA special programs is free. To use the Sportsvite service, Internet users complete a quick athletic profile for any sport or activity they want to play. They can then use a variety of tools to quickly connect with the like-minded players and organize their existing teams.
