Syracuse Announces Name The Team Contest

June 20, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Syracuse Raging Bullz News Release

Syracuse, NY. The new ABA Syracuse professional basketball team that begins play in November, formerly known as the Syracuse Bullies, announced that a fan contest to rename the team will begin immediately at all Central New York Wegmans locations and at participating Wendy's locations. The participating Wendy's locations are: Carousel Center, the Regional Market, the corner of James Street and Thompson Road and Erie Boulevard. In the Utica-Rome market, participants can go to all Wendy's locations.

Nicolas Fitts, team owner, issued the following statement: "I brought this team to Syracuse for the entire New York community to embrace and enjoy. The team is first and foremost for the fans. While I initially named this team after my beloved Chicago Bulls, I have since decided to give the fans a chance to participate in the process. Get to your local Wegmans or participating Wendy's and have your say. Now we can begin the process of bringing an ABA championship to Syracuse."

The team will play 18 home games at the Onondaga County War Memorial and 18 road games. Tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster or call 315 426 8741 or email nfittssr@yahoo.com or visit www.abalive.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
