
Syracuse Crunch Sign Kevin Lynch, John Kurtz to AHL Contracts

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Crunch have signed forwards Kevin Lynch and John Kurtz to AHL contracts, general manager Julien BriseBois announced today.
Lynch, 25, has played in 24 games with the Crunch posting five points (3g, 2a) to go along with eight penalty minutes. He has also skated in 35 games with the Indy Fuel this season earning 11 goals and 13 assists. Last season, he appeared in two games with the Crunch and five with the Manitoba Moose. He skated in 62 with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL posting 58 points (22g, 36a) and a plus-16 rating.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pound center has skated in 84 career AHL games with the Crunch and Moose posting six goals and three assists. He also has 175 career ECHL games, accumulating 124 points (48g, 76a) and 97 penalty minutes with the Fuel, Everblades, Evansville Icemen and Toledo Walleye.
Prior to his professional career, Lynch appeared in 168 games over four years at the University of Michigan totaling 72 points (35g, 37a). The Grosse Pointe, Michigan native was a second-round selection, 56th overall, of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Kurtz, 27, has appeared in six contests with the Crunch tallying two goals. He also skated in 26 games with the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL this season posting four goals and 10 assists along with 25 penalty minutes. Last season, he split time between the Toronto Marlies and Utica Comets. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound left wing earned four points (1g, 3a) in 14 games with Toronto and two goals in 25 contests with Utica.
The Oakville, Ontario native previously appeared with the Crunch from 2009 to 2012 when he notched six goals and two assists along with 149 penalty minutes in 67 games. Kurtz is a veteran of 316 career AHL games and has recorded 45 points (23g, 22a) and 601 penalty minutes with the Crunch, Marlies, Comets and Admirals. He has also played in 53 career ECHL games with the Admirals and Elmira Jackals earning 25 points (8g, 17a) and 55 penalty minutes.
