
Syracuse Chiefs Announce Bark in the Park & First Annual Pet Fest

The Syracuse Chiefs are inviting fans to bring their furry friends to the game on Saturday, May 9th, as NBT Bank Stadium hosts Bark in the Park presented by Dog Daze Healthy Pet Shop and Time Warner Cable News. This year's event will feature the first annual pregame Pet Fest, which is free with a game ticket. Bark in the Park will takes place during Saturday's 1:05 p.m. game against the Durham Bulls, with Pet Fest beginning three hours before first pitch at 10 a.m.
"We're combining man's best friend and man's best sport again in 2015", said Chiefs general manager Jason Smorol. "For dog lovers and baseball lovers, there's no better day than Saturday. Let's pack the park with both two and four-legged creatures!"
Pet Fest, a pregame event for dog owners and non-owners alike, features 12 local rescue groups with dogs for adoption, 11 pet manufacturers with free goodies, and 13 local businesses including Onondaga County Animal Disaster Relief, dog trainers, pet sitters, groomers and more. A pet-food pantry will also be available for dogs. In addition, the Chiefs are pleased to announce that the team will have a veterinarian on call during Pet Fest and all of Bark in the Park, in case a dog gets sick or injured. Drs. Eve Ryan and Sandra Fitzpatrick of Beaver Lake Animal Hospital will be present at NBT Bank Stadium during both events.
The first 300 dogs arriving at Pet Fest will receive a foldable travel water bowl presented by Dog Daze and the Chiefs. Humans won't be left out, with the first 2,000 fans receiving a Chiefs schedule poster presented by United Health Care.
Tickets for Pet Fest and the game are eight dollars for humans and five dollars for dogs, with all proceeds from dog tickets donated to the rescues groups participating in the event. In addition, the Chiefs Charitable Foundation will donate a portion of the 50/50 raffle to the rescue groups. Several local businesses will donate and raffle pet supplies, with proceeds also going back to these rescue organizations.
Pet Fest will run from 10 a.m. through the early part of the game, ending at 2 p.m., approximately one hour after scheduled first pitch. Tickets for Saturday's events and all other Chiefs games are available and can purchased online at syracusechiefs.com, by calling 315-474-7833 or by visiting the NBT Bank Stadium ticket office during regular business hours.
