Walla Walla Sweets News Release
WALLA WALLA, Wash- The Walla Walla Sweets released the signing of another player on Thursday morning. This week, it was Chris Murphy who will spend the summer in Walla Walla before heading to San Diego for his freshman season.
Chris Murphy, a 6-foot, 175 pound left-handed pitcher, will come to the Sweets from Granada Hills Charter in California. He is a powerful lefty that throws in the low 90's and in 2015, he was named an Underclassman Honorable Mention All-American by Perfect Game. He was named to the Preseason All-Area Baseball Team by dailynews.com along with fellow future Sweet Ben Baird and Blake Rutherford (Brother of Sweet Cole and coached by Sweets' manager Frank Mutz at Chaminade).
"I'm pleased to have USD commit Chris Murphy joining our pitching staff this summer. Chris is a hard throwing lefty who has command of three pitches. I see Chris as a possible starter or in long relief."
