December 18, 2012 - West Coast League (WCL)
Walla Walla Sweets News Release
WALLA WALLA, Wa. - As the fourth season of West Coast League baseball quickly approaches, the Walla Walla Sweets are once again looking for enthusiastic individuals for their internship program. For the third year in a row, the Walla Walla Sweets will offer aspiring sports professionals the opportunity to learn about the day-to-day operations of a professionally-run sports organization.
The internships, which start in late May and run through the middle of August, will expose participants to many facets of the behind-the-scenes operations of a professionally-run baseball team. Sweets interns will gain experience in the primary areas of sports business including: marketing; ticket sales; sponsorship; stadium operations; community relations; and retail/merchandise sales.
The primary responsibility of Sweets interns on game-day is to be the driving force of the stadium operations team. Tasks include stadium set-up and breakdown, running on-field promotions, operating the guest services booth, working as an usher, ticket operations, and more. When the team is on the road, interns will have the opportunity to work closely with our front office staff to learn the responsibilities and daily tasks of the various office departments such as graphic design, marketing, and sponsorships.
"Our interns are critical to the success of our game-day operations," said Sweets' general manager Zachary Fraser. "We rely on these individuals to help provide a positive fan experience at Borleske Stadium, as they gain experience in all areas of operating a baseball team."
These internships are paid. Interns will receive a monthly stipend, and out of town interns will have the option to be placed with a host family to help with the cost of living. Please visit wallawallasweets.com/club/jobs to find more information about the 2013 Sweets Internship Program.
