Walla Walla Sweets News Release

WALLA WALLA, Wa. - The fourth season of Walla Walla Sweets baseball has come to a close and it was a successful season for the team both on the field and off. The Sweets saw their best record in franchise history (31-22) on the way to winning the West Coast League North Division, and earning their second playoff berth in just four seasons. The performance on the field as well as the support of fans has landed the Sweets on two summer collegiate top 50 lists.

Last week Ballpark Business released the annual list of Top 50 Summer Collegiate teams and the Sweets make their appearance at number 41. This marks the fourth season that the Sweets have landed in the top 50 in per game average attendance despite operating in one of the smallest markets of the teams ranked. The Sweets were one of eight WCL teams on the list, joined by Bend, Victoria, Medford, Wenatchee, Corvallis, Bellingham, and Klamath Falls, making the league one of the top performing leagues in the country.

"The fact that we have landed in the top 50 all four seasons speaks volumes about our fans," said Sweets' vice president and general manager Zachary Fraser. "We are grateful for the continued support of this community and look forward to rising up the list in the years to come."

For the first time in franchise history the Sweets were also ranked number 41 on the Perfect Game USA list of top 50 summer collegiate baseball teams. Consideration for this list is based on team record, league dominance, depth and quality of professional-level talent and the overall strength of the league. To be considered teams must have at least a .500 record overall.
