Sweets Comeback, Cannot Finish off Late Innings in Loss

Walla Walla, WASH- The Walla Walla Sweets (19-16) lost game two of the series to the Corvallis Knights (20-12) 6-4 despite late comeback efforts. Ryan Anderson (Nevada) started the game for the Sweets and gave up two runs in the fifth inning. He finished with six innings, only giving up the two runs on five hits while striking out two. Two runs were added by the Knights in the seventh off Jackson Weeg (Emory) to make it 4-0 Corvallis. The Sweets came back with four two-out runs in the bottom of the eighth to tie it up. Willie MacIver (Washington) knocked in the first with an RBI groundout, then Nick Vigo (Cal State Monterey Bay) singled in the second run. Ryan Johnston (UC Irvine) followed that up by tripling in two runs to tie the game in dramatic fashion. Kyle Narahara (Cal State Monterey Bay) picked up the loss by giving up two runs the in the ninth inning and the Sweets fell to the Knights 6-4. In the loss, Jarren Duran (Long Beach State) went 3-4 with a walk and stole three bases to give him 16 on the season. That is first in the West Coast League this season and sets the Sweets' single season record for most stolen bases. The Sweets and the Knights will match-up again in game three tomorrow at 7:05 P.M. Chris Murphy (San Diego) is slated to pitch for the Sweets.
