Walla Walla Sweets News Release
WALLA WALLA, Wash- The Walla Walla Sweets headed south to Corvallis, OR to find the next player in the quest for a WCL championship during the 2016 season. On Thursday morning, they announced the signing of Beaver freshman Bryce Fehmel.
Fehmel, a 6-foot 1-inch, 185 pound right-handed pitcher and infielder, comes to the Sweets from Agoura Hills, CA. During his junior campaign, he hit .297 with seven doubles and 20 RBIs, but he also excelled on the mound. In 10 appearances, he threw 17 1/3 innings, going 2-0 with a 1.21 ERA with 13 strikeouts. Fehmel will enter his first season in the West Coast League with the Sweets after his freshman campaign in the PAC-12.
"Bryce Fehmel is a tremendous athlete and will play middle infield and pitch for both Oregon State and the Sweets," Sweets' manager Frank Mutz said. "Our front office focused on going out and getting athletes that can really run and Bryce fits the mold for the 2016 roster."
The Sweets, entering the club's seventh season as a member of the WCL, will open up the 2016 campaign at historic Borleske Stadium on Friday, June 3rd. With the schedule having been released on October 27th, 2015, the team is experiencing its best preseason ticket sales period since the 2011 season.
