Walla Walla Sweets News Release

WALLA WALLA, Wash - The Walla Walla Sweets headed to southern California for another signing in 2016. This time, the Sweets announced the addition of Connor Doyle from the University of San Diego.

Doyle, a 5-foot 10-inch, 170 pound outfielder, will join the Sweets after finishing his freshman campaign in the spring with the Toreros. During his senior year at San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, CA, he hit .433 with 15 runs scored and eight doubles in 20 games. Perfect Game had Doyle ranked as the 62nd best outfield prospect in the state of California and he was also nationally ranked at 442nd.

"Connor is among the most versatile outfielders in his class, and we anticipate that he will be a key contributor for us on both sides of the ball," team president Zachary Fraser said. "As a switch hitter, he provides flexibility to [head coach] Frank [Mutz] and our staff in terms of writing the lineup each night."

This is the second Torero in the last two years that the Sweets have signed (Matt Whitney in 2015) and Fraser added: "We are excited to continue to build on our relationship with USD."

The Walla Walla Sweets will open the 2016 season of WCL baseball in June of 2016. Season tickets are on sale now. For more information about these and other ticketing options visit wallawallasweets.com, stop by the Sweets Shoppe in downtown Walla Walla, or call 509.522.BALL (2255).
