Walla Walla Sweets News Release
WALLA WALLA, Wash- The Walla Walla Sweets went down to Atlanta, Georgia to find their newest signing that they announced on Thursday morning. Manager Frank Mutz and team president Zachary Fraser are proud to announce that Jackson Weeg will be joining the Sweets for the summer from Emory University.
Jackson Weeg, a 6-foot, 175-pound left-handed pitcher, will be back with the Emory Eagles for his junior season in the spring. He finished his sophomore campaign with a 12-1 record and 2.59 ERA in a team-leading 100.2 innings pitched. He also struck out 98 and walked just 24 while leading the Eagles to a 6th place finish in the final D3 polls. He was also rewarded for his season by being named a third-team All-American for his performance by D3baseball.com.
"We have had great pitchers from Emory in past years, it's a great program," said Fraser. "To be able to acquire a talent like Jackson - 4 strikeouts to every one walk is not just efficient, it's dominant - will help us move towards having a staff that will position us to win a championship."
As the team heads into the holiday break, the roster now sits at a good position as Fraser and manager Frank Mutz will head to Nashville, TN for the national ABCA convention, where the head coaches of every major college program will be in attendance and finishing touches will be added.
The Walla Walla Sweets will open the 2016 season of WCL baseball in June of 2016. Season tickets are on sale now. For more information about these and other ticketing options visit wallawallasweets.com, stop by the Sweets Shoppe in downtown Walla Walla, or call 509.522.BALL (2255).
